A family in Unincorporated Whittier has been rocked with the shooting murder of a second member in just two months, prompting Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives to reach out to the community to help find those responsible.
During this past weekend, Norwalk Sheriff’s Detectives identified 47 year-old Joseph Michael Telles, Jr., as a shooting victim while standing in front of his home on the Bonavista Lane off of Leffingwell Road and Meyer Road.
Two months ago, the victim’s 70 year old father, Joe Telles, Sr., was gunned down two blocks away from the location.
On Saturday, Detectives learned that the Telles Jr. was standing in the front yard of the location when unknown suspect(s) shot him multiple times in the torso.
Homicide officials told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that Telles, Jr., was found with a handgun which was recovered at the scene of the shooting.
In August, Telles, Sr. was found dead at the 13900 block of Placid Drive, just a few blocks away from the family home. During that still unsolved murder, the elder Telles was found sitting inside of his SUV, parked on the side of the street. He had a wound to his head and was shot in his upper torso numerous times.
Anyone with information about these murders is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
