Jailed Los Angeles County Assessor John R. Noguez will be back in a downtown Los Angeles County court room on Wednesday in hopes of having his $1.16 million bail reduced.
Los Cerritos Community Newspaper has been told by sources within law enforcement that Noguez is still in “solitary confinement” at least 23 hours per day, and is only allowed to take three showers per week.
“He is being treated like any other inmate,” District Attorney Steve Cooley told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper in an interview.
Noguez is being held at the Men’s Central Jail on Bauchet Street and he is not being allowed visitors with the exception of his legal representatives.
Noguez, whose legal name is Juan Reynaldo Rodriguez, was arrested on October 17 at 8:30 a.m. at his home in Huntington Park and is being charged with dozens of felony counts ranging from accepting bribes to money laundering.
Sources close to the case, who do not want to be identified tell LCCN that the 47-year old Noguez may face additional felony counts.
LCCN will be covering Wednesday’s court appearance of Noguez and will continue to provide updates on the case as they develop.
Los Cerritos Community Newspaper was the first media outlet to report on the current criminal probe back in early February.
