Cerritos Bids Farewell to Retiring Sheriff’s Captain Joe Gonzales

Cerritos Mayor Jim Edwards congratulates Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Captain Joe Gonzales (right) on his retirement and welcomes Lieutenant Keith Swensson (left) to the City of Cerritos. Lieutenant Swensson will be promoted to captain of the Cerritos Sheriff’s Station after Captain Gonzales retires at the end of this year. Lieutenant Swensson was raised in Cerritos and attended Mary Bragg Elementary School, Haskell Middle School and Gahr High School. He said he is looking forward to serve his hometown. Captain Gonzales said, “You never think about retiring when you first start a job. Now 36 later here I am. It was a really blessed career.” He thanked the council for being very supportive of the department.
