A campaign flyer showing Los Angeles City Mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel holding a semi-automatic weapon has been obtained by Los Cerritos Community Newspaper on Friday afternoon.
The controversial mailing has a bold headline above the photo of Greuel that states: “Will the Real Wendy Greuel Please Stand Up!”
“Kevin James said he knew where the bodies were buried at, but did she shoot them as well?”
“When Wendy Greuel says she wants to protect our children, is this what she means?”
“Wendy preaches gun control, now watch kids as she controls this gun.”
The images of Greuel holding the weapon began hitting Twitter and other social media sites on Friday afternoon.
The image was sent to major news outlets via Twitter from at least two sources.
One of the “retweets” of the image was sent from the personal account of Jaysmne Cannick, who works as a public affairs consultant.
In her Tweet Cannick writes: “Wendy’s got a gun–and somebody has some explaining to do.” #LAMayor #Election @KFINEWS @NBCLA @LATimescitybeat pic.twitter.com/FtNcjm0rNa.
Greuel Met With NRA Lobbyist In 2010
Los Cerritos Community Newspaper published the official city calendar of Greuel back in January. In one of her meetings listed on March 17, 2010, it shows that she attended a meeting at 9:30 a.m. with Dean Aguillen with the public relations and lobbying firm of Ogilvy Government Relations.
The firm is owned by James Baker, who was the former Republican Chief of Staff under President George Bush back in the 1980’s. Ogilvy is the lobbyist to the National Rifle Association, according to documents filed with the Federal Elections Commission and also obtained by LCCN.
Records also indicate that the NRA paid Ogilvy nearly $200,000 for services in lobbying lawmakers in 2007.
Here is Greuel’s official city calendar showing that she met with Aguillen.
