Hews Media Group-Community Newspapers has learned that members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Attorney’s Office will be holding a press conference on Monday afternoon in Downtown Los Angeles to announce criminal corruption and civil rights charges against current and former sworn officers of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
United States Attorney André Birotte Jr. and FBI Assistant Director in Charge Bill Lewis will be announcing the arrests during the press conference that is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m..
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Spokesperson Mike Parker told HMG-CN that he is referring all media questions to the Los Angeles office of the FBI and that he would not comment on the specifics of the situation.
“We are referring all calls to the FBI, and have no official comment at this time,” Parker said.
HMG-CN will be attending the press conference.
