State Board of Equalization Member Betty Yee has jumped into second place in the campaign for California State Controller against former California State Assembly Speaker in late votes that were posted by state election officials late Thursday afternoon.
Yee now holds a 318 vote advantage over Perez according to election officials in Sacramento.
Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin was the top vote gatherer in the heated and expensive primary campaign. More than 35,000 votes still need to be counted statewide before the election is officially certified.
