Breaking: A power transformer located on top of a wooden power pole in Norwalk exploded on Sunday afternoon at around 5:50 p.m.
The explosion was located on a power pole located next to St. Linus Catholic Church in Norwalk and a residential neighborhood.
All of the power at St. Linus was knocked out as a result of the incident and members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Southern California Edison were deployed to the scene.
No injuries were reported. A heavy thick white smoke filled the air for a few minutes. More than 250 people were attending Mass at St. Linus when the explosion took place. Power is currently out in and around Shoemaker Avenue near John Glenn High School.
