Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey has demanded that key documents pertaining to different elected officials in the City of Compton be given to her office as part of an internal investigation that is apparently being focused at city hall, Hews Media Group-Community Newspaper can confirm.

On July 31, Lacey directed Compton City Clerk Alita Godwin to turn over several different documents pertaining to Mayor Aja Brown and City Council members Janna Zurita, Isaac Galvan, Yvonne Arceneaux and Dr. Willie O. Jones.

Lacey is also requesting documents pertaining to City Attorney Craig J. Cornwell, City Clerk Alita Godwin and City Treasurer Douglas Sanders.

The District Attorney’s office has specifically requested documents that include candidate registration and qualification forms; declaration of candidacy forms; candidate intention statements; statements of economic interests, as well as documents regarding interest in real property assets.

Lacey is requesting that city officials provide records dating back “from 2004 to the present.”

In addition, HMG-CN can confirm that in the request, Lacey is specifically asking for “city council agenda and minutes related to the appointment of City Attorney Craig Cornwell.”

On Thursday, Jane Robison, a spokesperson for Lacey told HMG-CN the following about the situation:  “We do not confirm if we have ongoing investigations involving any Public Integrity Division.”

Robison went on to say, “I can, however, tell you if we’ve received any complaints against city officials. We have received complaints against four of the Compton officials you inquired about, (Mayor) Aja Brown, (Councilmember) Janna Zurita, (Councilman) Isaac Galvan and (City Attorney) Craig Cornwell.”

HMG-CN will have additional updates on this situation in the future.

  • Zippy Harper says:

Sounds like they’re targeting Issac and his slick overnight move from Commerce to Compton to exploit the ignorant Mexican vote. Can’t say we didn’t see this one coming:)

  • Robert Ray says:

It’s about time! They (DA) spent so much time in Bell, I thought they’d never get to Compton.

  • FLFF says:

If it involves liberal democrats, graft, corruption, credibility, honesty, and ethics, then you KNOW it is the government officials of Compton! They all take tips from their masters in Stinkramento and the best ones in Washington DC in the barry o’bozo regime of dictators! Go get em all Jackie.. bout time!

  • Danny from Artesia says:

Ms. DA, come and investigate my city, still too much under the table crap going on, thought it would stop after the CM lady retired.

  • Smitty says:

There’s political motivation here, remove the blacks to make room for Mexicans, Mexicans are the majority of voters in Compton yes? Yes 65% in 2010 up from 56% in 1990 They’re probably closer to 75% now today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compton,_California#Demographics Hispanic or Latino of any race were 62,669 persons (65.0%).

Those Black politicians are occupying Latino seats and need to go http://reason.com/blog/2010/09/09/la-domino-effect-rolls-straigh

Lacey seems to be a tool of the party, the Mexican invasion party. ( I don’t see any voter fraud audits or investigations in spite of allegations going back decades out of Lacey’s office, Bell, Cudahy*, Maywood, Huntington park)nor do I see any pursuit of all the people Noguez supported with his loot in the legislature and local govt.

*Cudahy officials even signed an affidavit admitting voter fraud.

Compton is easy because they’re minorities with no political protection, but no less corrupt than the rest of LA, in fact they have fewer assets to steal in Compton than in most of LA.

    • Robert Ray says:

I must disagree with your assumption that this is a way to get rid of the ‘blacks’ in office. There is proof of voter fraud and if I had your email address I would forward some of it to you.

      • Randy R. Economy says:

Robert Ray: Thanks for the comment. Feel free to send any following documents to me DIRECTLY at [email protected].
