WATCH: Hawkins, Mendoza, Gray square off in heated Central Basin Water Board Debate

The three candidates who are running for a seat on the Central Basin Water District Board of Directors (Fifth District) met for a lively, and sometimes heated debate on Thursday afternoon in Cerritos. Incumbent Phil Hawkins, and challengers Assemblyman Tony Mendoza and Jay Gray talked openly about their plans if they were elected in the upcoming June 5th Primary Election as well as there differences.

The one plus hour event was hosted by Los Cerritos Community Newspaper Group and hosted by Publisher Brian Hews, Editor Jerry Bernstein and Reporterday’s on-line camera operator. Look for more information about the campaign in this weekends print edition of the Los Cerritos Co Randy Economy and was held on the Patio at the Off Street Cafe on Artesia Boulevard. Below are six unedited clips from the debate. Special thanks to LCCN Intern Shreya Sheth for serving as tommunity Newspaper and in the La Mirada Lamplighter.

Wow, really heated debate. Hawkins was poster boarded by the two other candidates and made some damaging accusations that if true should be made available to the public on either one of the candidates sites. I would like know to the truth as a central basin customer.
