BREAKING: Missing Long Beach girls found unharmed; Mother arrested for child endangerment

By Brian Hews
Two missing girls from Long Beach have been found alive on Saturday afternoon, according to members of the Long Beach Police Department.
The girls, Demoy Cherie Goodwin, age 9 and Sharron Cherie Bess, age 13 were located approximately 1:30 p.m.
In a statement to the media, Long Beach Police Department said they were able to determine the whereabouts of the two female juveniles that had been reported missing on Friday.
Both girls were uninjured, and an adult female who was with them is being questioned regarding the incident.
The mother told police that a woman she did not know offered to care for the girls, and the mother allowed the woman to leave the motel with them and had not seen them since.
The mother of the two girls, 33-year-old Diondria Cherie Davis, was arrested early Saturday morning for felony child endangerment. Her last known city of residence is Sacramento.
Police thoroughly searched the motel, the surrounding area, and other locations, and investigated the incident. They were able to identify the woman who was last seen with the girls as “CC,” and obtained an image of her from the motel surveillance camera.
Working with media, the police disseminated the photo and information to the community while continuing the search for the missing girls.
Shortly after the information was broadcasted, “CC” contacted Los Angeles County Sheriffs in Lynwood, where she was at the time with the two girls. Sheriffs contacted Long Beach Police, and she is now being questioned for her role in the incident. It has not yet been determined if she will be arrested.
“The Long Beach Police Department would like to give a special thanks to our partners in the media and the community for working with us to help locate these girls, and bring them to safety,” a statement said this afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone who may have additional information regarding this case is asked to contact Long Beach Police Department Homicide Detectives Scott Lasch and Donald Goodman at (562) 570-7244. Anonymous tips via web or text may be sent to www.tipsoft.com.
