Members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have confirmed that a man who was shot near Ramona Park on Thursday afternoon has died from his injuries and that the suspect who has been arrested in the case is a 15 year old minor.
The name of the victim or suspect has not been made public as of Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives responded to the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and Pontlavoy Avenue in Norwalk, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting of an adult male.
Detectives learned that deputies responded to a man with a knife call at Ramona Park, when they heard gun shots coming from nearby Pontlavoy Avenue.
As deputies canvased the area, they found an 18-year-old man had been shot several times. He was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.
During the search of the area, deputies located the 15 year-old suspect, hiding under a Sheriff’s patrol car. He was arrested and booked at Norwalk Sheriff’s Station for Murder.
The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang related.
