Triathlon Shoe theft identified as Robert Iaquinto Tracked Down after race in Malibu

Robert Iaquinto busted for stealing shoes at Triathlon in Malibu.

A local triathlon event has resulted in the arrest on a suspect athletic shoe robber.

On Saturday, at approximately 10:30 P.M., Malibu/Lost Hills deputies responded to the 30300 block of Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, to a possible burglary call at a merchandise display tent for the “Nautica Triathlon Event.”

A security guard at the location observed the suspect, Robert Iaquinto, 43, carrying items from the tent and loading them into a vehicle. The guard attempted to gain the suspect’s attention in order to ascertain if he had stolen items from the tent, however, the suspect quickly entered his vehicle and fled the scene. The guard followed the suspect while alerting Lost Hills Station of the theft. Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle on Kanan Road near Troutdale Drive in unincorporated Agoura Hills and effected a traffic stop. During the investigation, deputies found several pairs of new shoes and new clothing items inside the suspect’s vehicle. The items were confirmed to have come from the tent.

The suspect was arrested for burglary, possession of burglary tools as well as several outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants. He was booked at Lost Hills Station in lieu of a $20.0000 bail and an additional $70,000 for outstanding warrants.

Suspect Iaquinto is a resident of Los Angeles.
