Wild Friday Night Car Chase Ends in Lynwood with Arrest of Antonio Flores, 18, additional minor

By Brian Hews

An 18-year-old male and a juvenile have been arrested after a wild high speed pursuit through the streets and freeways in Southeast Los Angeles County on Friday night.

Under arrest is Antonio Flores, 18, as well as another minor and both are being booked on numerous charges.

According to a statement released by law enforcement early Saturday morning, Century Station deputies observed the suspects driving in “a confirmed stolen vehicle” in the area of Alpine Avenue and Cedar Avenue in the City of Lynwood.

“As the suspect vehicle traveled northbound on Long Beach Boulevard, deputies attempted to coordinate a felony stop on the vehicle. The suspect vehicle accelerated and attempted to evade the patrol units and a pursuit was initiated. The suspect vehicle drove onto the West 105 freeway accelerating to a dangerous speed,” said Lieutenant Terry Burgin of Century Sheriff’s Station.

“The suspect vehicle transitioned onto the North 110 freeway and exited at Gage Avenue. While the suspect vehicle was exiting the freeway it collided into an occupied vehicle and continued driving. The suspect vehicle drove west on Gage Avenue and the pursuit was re-initiated.” Burgin said in a statement.

The stolen vehicle collided into another vehicle at Vermont Avenue and Vernon Street, Los Angeles. He was arrested after attempting to flee the scene and was taken into custody. The other suspect stayed in the vehicle and was taken into custody. His name has not been made public because of being a minor.
