Suspect Arrested In Cerritos Home Burglary; Kennedy Elementary School Put on Lockdown

By Brian Hews
One suspect is in custody after a home burglary took place on Tuesday afternoon near Rose Street and Stark Avenue in Cerritos.

According to Cerritos Sheriff’s Watch Commander George Beruman, the suspect was taken into custody at or near the scene of the burglary and that the items that were involved in the crime were recovered at the scene.

Kennedy Elementary School in Cerritos was placed on temporary lockdown.

A spokeswoman for the ABC Unified School District confirmed that the popular campus was locked down as a “precaution.”

Commander Beruman told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that “possible additional suspects” may be involved in the case. “We are still actively investigating this situation,” Beruman said.

The name of the suspect arrest has not been released. “We are in the early stages of processing the suspect and will not comment on his identity,” he said.
