UPDATE:
As of 10 p.m Friday, nearly 60,000 customers remained without power throughout Southern California – including at least 45,000 households, businesses, and other structures in Cerritos, Artesia and Lakewood.
Another 11,700 customers were affected in Los Alamitos.
The location of the outage appears to be traced back to the Del Amo Power Station.
The power outage also caused thousands of shoppers to be left in the dark at Los Cerritos Center, as well at several retail centers in Artesia including the “Little India” section of Pioneer Boulevard.

A large portion of Cerritos was hit with a power outage on Friday afternoon beginning at around 5:58 p.m.
Several street lights were out of service.
The Ralph’s Supermarket located at the corner of South Street and Carmenita Road had several dozen shoppers inside when the power went out. Store managers and employees were escorting shoppers out of the store to ensure their safety.
Coffee houses on South Street were also left in the dark. “All of a sudden, the lights went out, and all of us looked around and just kept drinking our coffee,” Cerritos resident Steve Chau told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper.
The power was restored at approximately 6:43 p.m. according to Edison officials. But some residents in Cerritos still claimed that they were without power well past 8 p.m.
