The renowned Chinese Youth Opera Troupe will be performing before a lucky audience at the Cerritos Library on October 2 thanks to the generosity of former Mayor Grace Hu.

Hu, who is also a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur is sponsoring the group of young performers from Beijing who range in ages from 12 to 18.

Tickets for the performance are free for the asking, but Hu pointed out that due to the limited size of the Cerritos Library Sky Room only 200 attendees will be able to attend the opera that begins promptly at 7 p.m.

“This is the first time that the Chinese Youth Opera Troupe will be performing in the United States of America, and I am honored and humbled to sponsor these fine performers for their visit here in Cerritos,” Hu told Hews Media Group – Community Newspaper in an interview.

Hu said that she is encouraging young adults and students to attend the concert, but that the opera is “great for people of all ages, cultures and interests.”

The opera troupe will have approximately 15 people involved in the performance that also includes a handful of adult chaperons.

Hu pointed out the that CYOT will also perform at Disneyland on October 3rd, and has two paid performances planned in El Monte on October 5th and 6th at the California Chinese Performing Arts College located at 9837 Baldwin Place.  Tickets for the shows in El Monte range from $30 to $100 per person.

To receive two free tickets to the free performance at the Cerritos Library, you are encouraged to call former Mayor Hu directly at (562) 623-9872. Please call before Monday, September 30th.
