Commerce, CA – The Central Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors have recognized Jaide Lin, a seventh grader from Carmenita Middle School in Cerritos, as the 2014 “Water is Life” poster contest winner. The Board also acknowledged Lin’s teacher, Mrs. Kathy West, with a gift card for school supplies.

This year, the District received over 90 creative entries from students attending schools in the Central Basin service area, making the selection process very challenging. Although the various entries were diverse and exhibited creative talented, Jaide Lin’s use of colors, artistic skills and overall concept was exceptional.

The “Water is Life” poster contest is sponsored by Central Basin, in partnership with Metropolitan Water District (MWD) and promotes water conservation messaging.  The winner for the Central Basin service area is presented with an iPad.  The winning poster is also featured on an MWD calendar and a variety of promotional items.

Since 2005, over 90,000 students have had the opportunity to participate in the “Water is Life” poster contest.
