UPDATE: SHOOTING DEATH IN COMPTON

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man that occurred in the intersection of East Elm Street and North Poinsettia Avenue, Compton.

Detectives have learned that the victim, a male Hispanic adult, was crossing Poinsettia Avenue eastbound on Elm Street, when the suspect vehicle approached southbound on Poinsettia Avenue.  When the victim was halfway across the street, the suspect vehicle came to a stop and the right front passenger exited the car and fired a gun at the victim fatally striking him multiple times in the upper torso.  The suspect vehicle drove off southbound on Poinsettia Avenue and out of view.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no suspect or vehicle description at this time and the motive is unknown.
