Assemblymember Garcia Elected to the California Legislative Women’s Caucus Leadership

(Sacramento) –Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) has been elected by her peers to serve as Vice-Chair to the California Legislative Women’s Caucus.

The Legislative Women’s Caucus represents and advocates on behalf of the diverse interests of women, children and families throughout California. It also seeks to increase participation and representation of women in state government.

Beginning her second term and recently appointed as Democratic Assistant Majority Floor Leader, Garcia has been a strong voice in promoting gender equality and advocate for empowering women and girls in California.

“My top priorities are to see more women represented in positions of leadership and to maximize opportunities for all women,” Garcia said. “I extend my deepest appreciation to the women in the legislature for their confidence and support.”

The Legislative Women’s Caucus is bipartisan and embraces the goal of empowering all women to be self-sufficient, independent, and equal partners in their homes, communities, places of work and government.

Members of the Legislative Women’s Caucus seek to promote sound legislative policies and budget priorities that will improve the well-being of women, children and families. The Caucus also seeks to work cooperatively with local, state and national women’s organizations interested in advancing policies to achieve these same objectives.
