Staff Report
Long Beach fire and police invested a possible vehicle that reportedly went into the Los Cerritos Channel yesterday, but found nothing.
The response created a traffic nightmare.
Police were called to the area of Studebaker Avenue and 7th Street where officers found part of the fence that lines the channel damaged.
Long Beach firefighters and lifeguards were on scene at 9th and Studebaker.
At the time, it was unclear whether a car had went into the channel or not.
Long Beach fire tweeted: “Swift water response at 9th street and Studebaker and Rescue Boat preparing to deploy a rescue swimmer to locate a vehicle.”
Forty-five minutes later the mission was called off.
