At approximately 11:30 a.m., Downey Police Officers responded to the Florence Avenue overpass at the San Gabriel River regarding an attempted suicide. When Downey Officers arrived they discovered a female victim in the riverbed suffering from head trauma.
Prior to police arrival, witnesses reported that the victim, a 25 year old female Downey resident, who was alone at the time, jumped from the overpass in an apparent attempted suicide. Downey Fire Department responded for medical aid and transported the victim to a local area hospital. The victim remains in critical condition. Downey Police Detectives are currently investigating the incident and no further information will be released at this time.
