KEVIN HUNT SELECTED TO SERVE AS CENTRAL BASIN GENERAL MANAGER

Hunt is an industry veteran with over 40 years of professional experience

Commerce, CA – The Central Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Mr. Kevin Hunt has been selected as the District’s new General Manager starting April 27, 2015. Mr. Hunt possesses significant professional engineering and leadership experience within the water industry in the public and private sector. He has served as Central Basin’s Interim General Manager since November 2014.

“In his capacity as Interim General Manager, Kevin has played a key role leading Central Basin toward key achievements, including working cooperatively with five other wholesale agencies to secure replenishment water in the Central Groundwater basin,” said Central Basin Board President Robert Apodaca.

Prior to his role as Interim General Manager for Central Basin, Mr. Hunt served as General Manager for the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC). During his nine year tenure at MWDOC, Mr. Hunt successfully managed over $1 billion in water sales, secured million-dollar grant funding opportunities, provided strategic leadership for local water resources development, and implemented award winning water use efficiency programs.

Prior to MWDOC, Mr. Hunt held leadership positions at Psomas, a top-ranked engineering firm. Mr. Hunt is also widely known as a leader within the industry as he has presented on emerging water issues at conferences throughout his career. He is a founder and Board Member of the Urban Water Institute and remains a principal in Hunt Thornton Resource Strategies.

As our state faces another dry year,” said newly selected General Manager, Kevin Hunt, “I look forward to working with the Board of Directors, Central Basin staff and our partners in the water community to continue providing the highest level of

service and securing water resources for residents, businesses and stakeholders in the Central Basin service area.”

Mr. Hunt is a registered civil engineer who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and completed Graduate Studies in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
