BUENA PARK (CNS) – Buena Park police today issued a composite sketch of a man who accosted an 8-year-old girl in a bathroom at Bellis Park.
The girl, who was in the bathroom with her 10-year-old sister, was at the park with her family to watch a sibling’s Little League game Sunday afternoon, according to Buena Park police.
As the 8-year-old girl left a bathroom stall about 1:15 p. m., the suspect appeared from another stall and “bear hugged” her from behind before dragging her into the stall, police said. The girl managed to wriggle free as she “pushed and screamed,” police said. The victim remained in the bathroom with her sister.
The suspect let her go and “calmly walked out,” police said. There were hundreds of people at the park at Knott Avenue and 8th Street at the time, police said.
The suspect may have been riding a blue beach cruiser bicycle with white diagonal stripes and tall handlebars. He was described as Latino, 25 to 35 years old, 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighing 280 pounds.
He had black, spiked hair and brown eyes, was clean shaven, “smelled like cologne and did not appear to be homeless,” according to police. Anyone with information about the man was asked to call police at (714) 562-3901.
