The Community Family Guidance Center Honors Dr. Mary Sieu; Changes Golf Tournament Format

Cerritos, CA. The Community Family Guidance Center (CFGC), a nonprofit specializing in the prevention of child abuse through early intervention, treatment and education, will be honoring Dr. Mary Sieu by presenting her with CFGC’s 2016 Protector of Children award. The award will be presented at CFGC’s annual golf tournament dinner on June 27, 2016 at Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park.

Dr. Sieu is the current Superintendent at ABC Unified School district and has devoted her life to educating and protecting children. “Dr. Sieu has committed her life demonstrating a passion for the protection, education and betterment of children”, said CFGC Board President Steve Vicencia. “We are pleased to bestow this award upon her.” Cerritos Mayor George Ray said, “All of the cities that Dr. Sieu touches in her position as Superintendent of ABC School District are better places to live because of her leadership.”

CFGC officials also announced a format change in this year’s tournament. “For those who enjoy the scramble format used in past years, we will still have that opportunity,” said tournament chairman Steve Vicencia. “However, the scramble format will be two person scramble in lieu of four people,” Vicencia added. It was also announced that a second format will also be available for those golfers with an established official GHIN handicap. “A partner’s better ball format will be available for golfers with an official handicap,” Vicencia announced. Executive Director Bill Sinko said, “We hope to add excitement and a little competition to this year’s tournament. This is very different than most fundraising golf tournaments.”

It was also revealed that there will be four hole in one prizes available this year. The prizes are led by a new Infinity Q50 donated by Bill Stephens of Cerritos Infinity. In addition, Kris De La Pena of Ameriprise Financial will donate $10,000 cash, a set of Nike irons and a $500 gift card for the other three hole in one opportunities. In addition thousands of dollars of prizes will be available during the evening festivities.
