Norwalk Sheriff’s Investigating Homicide Shooting Death on Elmcroft Ave


Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult that occurred on Monday, July 4, 2016, at 11:29 p.m. in the 13000 block of Elmcroft Avenue, Norwalk.

Homicide detectives learned the victim, Ruben Gomez, was standing in the street with three male adults and one female adult.  A dark colored SUV drove alongside them when unidentified suspects from within the vehicle began shooting.  The SUV drove away Southbound on Elmcroft Avenue.

Victim Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.  Two other male adults sustained gunshot wounds to their torso’s and were treated in local area hospitals.  They remain in stable condition.  The other two adults were not injured.

The incident appears to be gang related.

There is no further description of the suspects or suspect-vehicle at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
