PIH Health Welcomes New Board of Directors Members

Whittier, Calif. (September 13, 2016) – PIH Health is pleased to announce the addition of three new members to its fiscal year 2016-17 Board of Directors—Charlotte Weaver, Jeff Hamar and Patrick Monroe.  Their terms will begin on October 1, 2016.

“Our newest Board members are highly-qualified individuals who will contribute their ideas and best-practices to our enterprise,” said Jim West, President and Chief Executive Officer, PIH Health.  “Their leadership will help PIH Health provide outstanding care to our communities.”

Charlotte Weaver has more than 25 years of experience in patient safety and quality, evidence-based practices and healthcare automation in acute, ambulatory and post-acute care centers. She is active in health IT policy and legislative efforts. She holds a PhD in Medical Anthropology from the University of California, an MSPH in Epidemiology, a BA in Anthropology from the University of Washington, and a nursing diploma from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing.

Patrick Monroe brings six years of CEO-level experience in a $150 million revenue company—Rose Hills Company—with over 700 associates and more than 20 years of senior management experience in all aspects of business management to the PIH Health Board.  He has served on the Board of Directors of several nonprofit organizations in recent years. He holds an Executive MBA from Claremont Graduate University.

Jeff Hamar is chief and president of Santa Fe Springs-based company, Galleher Corporation.  Hamar has extensive Board experience and has served as president of the National Association of Floor Covering Distributors and several other volunteer organizations.  He is a graduate of Carthage College and Wayland Academy, located in Wisconsin.

Additionally, two long-time directors—Donald G. Alvarado and Leon M.N. Garcia—will transition off of the Board. Both have served 12 years on the PIH Health Board of Directors and have been active business and community leaders throughout their terms. Alvarado’s and Garcia’s term officially ends on September 30, 2016.

“Both of these individuals have volunteered significant time to PIH Health and their leadership has strengthened the organization and the communities we serve,” said West. “On behalf of all of us at PIH Health, I thank them for their hard work, dedication, and service to others.”

 

The FY 2016-17 PIH Health Board is comprised of 14 Directors: Efrain Aceves, Rich Atwood, James Ball, Paula Cowan, Jane Dicus, Ed Dunlap, Frank Gomez, Jeff Hamar, Tom King, Patrick Monroe, Robert Petrina, Charlotte Weaver, Kenton Woods and Huey-Min Yu. Jane Dicus will continue to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors through September 30, 2017.
