Current Montebello Mayor Vanessa Delgado issued a press release today touting her swearing in ceremony as a State Senator in Sacramento.
Her family and Tony Atkins will be on hand to swear her in.
In the statement Delgado indicated she will resign from her Montebello Mayor/City Council seat.
“After exploring a number of options with the city of Montebello’s legal team, it is clear that a temporary leave of my City Council seat is not feasible. I believe that elected officials should hold themselves to the highest ethical standards and, as such, I must leave the City Council upon assuming this new office.”
Delgado will be sworn in at 1:30 p.m. today.
