FILING PERIOD ENDS TODAY: TEN CANDIDATES FILE FOR 33RD DISTRICT STATE SENATE SEAT

Ten candidates have filed to run for the 33rd District State Senate seat, the filing period ends today at 5 p.m, the special election is March 26, 2019 to fill the seat until 2020.

The seat was vacated by Ricardo Lara after he was elected as California Insurance Commissioner.

The list includes Long Beach Councilman  Al Austin II (D);Southgate Councilwoman Denise Diaz (D); Education Administrator/Environmentalist Cesar Flores Green; Teacher/Social Worker/Businesswomen Martha Flores Gibson (R); Cudahy City CouncilmanChris Garcia (D);Long Beach Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez (D), Jack M. Guerrero (R), Bell Vice Mayor Ana Maria Quintana (D), Bell City Councilmember Ali Saleh (D), Lynwood Mayor José Luis Solache (D), and Central Basin Director Leticia Vasquez (D).

SD 33 includes Cudahy, Bell, Bell Gardens, Lynwood, Maywood, Signal Hill, Paramount, South Gate, Vernon, Walnut Park, Huntington Park, and most of Long Beach with portions of the cities of Lakewood and Los Angeles.
