CERRITOS, CA – Grammy-nominated Pop singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka returns with his timeless hits at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) on Saturday, September 21, 8:00 PM. Tickets, which start from $80, are available at the CCPA Ticket Office and cerritoscenter.com or by calling (562) 916-8500.
A piano prodigy who trained at the prestigious Juilliard School of Music at age 9, NEIL SEDAKA was just 18 when the song Stupid Cupid, which he wrote for Connie Francis, catapulted the songwriter into instant stardom. Since then, the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame inductee has charmed multitudes of fans with hits that he penned and performed himself (Breaking Up Is Hard to Do, Laughter in the Rain, and Bad Blood) as well as those he composed for others (Clay Aiken’s Solitaire; Tom Jones’ Puppet Man; Frank Sinatra’s The Hungry Years; and Captain & Tennille’s Grammy-winning Love Will Keep Us Together).
Sedaka’s vast treasure trove of songs also includes the all-time No. One hits Oh! Carol, The Immigrant, Calendar Girl, and One-Way Ticket to the Blues. Other chart-busters include Little Devil, The Diary, Stairway to Heaven, Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen, and Next Door to an Angel. Sedaka’s latest album is The Real Neil, which incorporates new songs as well as his classics that have accumulated over the span of 60 years in the music business.
Sedaka holds the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame, which recognizes outstanding achievements in furthering the successes of songwriters. He also won the Special International Award from The Ivors, which honors excellence in songwriting.
