Two people have been killed and three others injured in a shooting at two different locations in Downey on Tuesday¸ Los Cerritos Community Newspaper can confirm.
Jason Pateo, spokesman for the Downey Fire Department told LCCN that the shootings took place at around 11 a.m. The first location was at the 8700 block of Cleta Street where one person was shot and killed.
Within minutes, a second shooting took place less than one block away, Pateo said.
“We have a total of five people who have been shot at two locations. Two died at the scene and three others have been transported to area hospitals.”
“The situation is very dangerous, and the entire area has been cordoned off by Downey Police Department officials,” Pateo said.
Pateo also told LCCN that they believe the suspect is a male adult black who was seen driving a blacked colored stock Camero with a California License Plate of 6LEA010.
NBCLA reported that the first shooting took place at the United States Fire Protection, near the famed Coca-Cola Bottling Plant.
Downey PD will be holding a press briefing at 3 p.m. with additional details.
