Joe Telles, 70, identified as murder victim found on Placid Drive in Unincorporated Whitter

Los Angeles County Coroner officials on Saturday confirmed that Joe Telles, 70, was the victim in a fatal death that took place on Friday in Unincorporated Whittier.

Telles was pronounced dead at 12:17 p.m. on Friday. The well-loved father and grandfather’s body was apparently found at the 13900 block of Placid Drive.

Telles was found sitting inside of his SUV, parked on the side of the street. He had a wound to his head. Detectives have learned that the injuries to the victims’s upper torso were caused by gun shots.

Telles apparently lived with his family a few blocks away where his body was discovered.

Sheriff officials had earlier said that Telles apparently had “traumatic injuries to his upper torso caused by an unknown object.”

Members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact LA County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
