Deputy District Attorney John Lewin of the Major Crimes Division said the jury deliberated just over four hours before finding Michael Lubahn Clark, 59, guilty of second-degree murder. Clark’s wife, Carol Jeanne Lubahn, was last seen alive on March 31, 1981. Her body has never been found.

The couple lived in the 17600 block of Cranbrook Avenue with their two children. Lewin said Clark claimed his wife disappeared in the middle of the night. But the couple fought the night she disappeared and he was afraid she was about to divorce him, Lewin said.

Clark is facing 15 years to life in prison when he returns to Torrance Superior Court on Dec. 12 for sentencing.
