C_10-19-12 1

Los Cerritos Community Newspaper, Publisher Brian Hews and Investigative Reporter Randy Economy have been nominated in the category of “Best Investigative Series” by the prestigious Los Angeles Press Club on Thursday for the 2013 Southern California Journalism Awards. Hews and Economy were recognized by the organization for their trailblazing series “Corruption at The Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office.”

Schenters List[2]The series by LCCN resulted in the arrest of current Los Angeles County Assessor John Noguez and three other individuals in what former Los Angeles County Assessor Steve Cooley called “the biggest political corruption case in the last 40 years.”
