Friends and family of 19-year-old Cyrus Alva is are telling members of the media that the former Lakewood High School student was indeed the victim in Thursday’s shooting on Arbor Road.
Law enforcement has not released the identity of the victim, but media outlets are beginning to report that Alva was indeed the victim.
Members of the Lakewood Sheriff’s Department are saying that “the victim was confronted by two Hispanic men, who shot him and fled in a four-door, older model Toyota Camry.”
“(The car) was last seen on Arbor going westbound,” said Lt. Dave Coleman of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Friends who gathered in front of Alva’s home say that he was an Engineering major at Long Beach City College and that he had no known gang affiliations. Several of them took to his Facebook page to post comments about his death early Thursday night.
Coroner officials left the scene of the killing at around 10 p.m.
Los Cerritos Community Newspaper will continue to update this situation as additional details emerge.
