L.A. County Launches Free Delivery Service for Older Adults Aged 60+

LA County has just launched a new free delivery service for older adults aged 60+ and individuals with disabilities who are unable to leave their home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This program will help vulnerable individuals get the groceries, household items, and other necessities they need during this time without having to leave the safety of their homes.

Delivery will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at no extra cost. No application process is required but items must be pre-paid and ready for pickup.

Deliveries can be scheduled by calling 1-888-863-7411 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

To meet this unprecedented crisis we are trying new, innovative ways to make sure that everyone in LA County has the resources they need to get through this situation safely. This program is one of those solutions.

Additional information about this process and how to qualify can be found in the flyer below. I encourage you to take a look.

We are writing this from our armchair, expressing viewpoints and digesting thoughts from many other senior families in the community. For the most part, happy that there has been an improvement in posting valuable info on the city website, regarding this pandemic. Not happy that city’s web-page makes no mention about the senior meals. Just remember, not all seniors have: Cable, IT connections nor Smart Phone, so are starving for public info. Let’s stop the tribunal tier style of subscription social advertising medias, everyone needs a degree of aid from public officials.

Pleading with you, over the next few weeks, surrounding Easter/Passover, while the populace is staying in place, especially the seniors; city must provide some sort of GO TO Pages. When we do have to rely on volunteers to shop stores for us, would like some kind of GO TO LIST, so we can know what stores/businesses are open/closed. Volunteer Angels are aiding us in running our errands, and they don’t have the time to run from store to store. Everyone who is connected, are using online shopping excetera. Many are trying to use online shopping, inventories are sold out, and have to go to multiple online sites, and still that’s very iffy. Then, large section of the residents are computer illiterate, which we all witnessed in the past election, when only 25% residents chose electronic voting.

City residents would appreciate if the Cerritos Chamber of Commerce plus City Council, could post a GO-TO List: Cerritos Website-LCCN Newspaper-Neighborhood Watch E-mail blast, including a GO-TO list of the Staples in the city, inorder to do business with over the next couple of weeks. Us relics in the city, still remember the food delivery services provided by Helms Bakery Home Deliveries, wish this style of services could be rebooted in this pandemic era.

Know Im the Third oldest resident in the city, (100YO) please help all of the seniors over age of 60 YO; so we don’t fall victim to: Aneurysms, Falls, Gout, Heart attacks, Hi blood pressure, Mental Breakdowns, Shakes, Strokes, Starvation /Vitamin deficiencies, etc. God Bless.
