Dirt Already Flying in Hawaiian Gardens City Council Elections

BY TAMMYE MCDUFF

Hawaiian Gardens will look to fill three vacancies on their City Council this November. Two of the Council seats will be for a full four year term until November 2024 and one will be for an unexpired term ending November 2022.

Looking to fill the two year term is Alba Bac, Maria Del Rio, Phillip Cabrera and Francisco Noyola.

Councilpersons Hank Trimble, Myra Maravilla and Victor Farfan will face off against Joe Cabrera Zermeno and former Mayor Reynaldo Rodriquez for the four-year terms.

There are questions surrounding Farfan, who was appointed, and if he should be running for the two year seat and not the four year seat.

Sources have told HMG-CN that the City Attorney wrote an opinion indicating it was permissible that he run for the four year seat.

The dirt is already flying; at the City Council meeting held September 22nd, public comments and letters slammed certain City Councilmembers, 52 letters in total, all were first person with no audio or video backup.

Also on November 3rd, voters are being presented a proposition that goes against the City values, Proposition 16 which aims to restore affirmative action in California. Despite the recent political wave in favor of social justice, the measure is not polling very well and residents are calling it racist.

If passed, Prop 16 would repeal 1996’s Proposition 209, which banned the government and public institutions like schools from discriminated or giving preferential treatment based on sex, race, ethnicity and nationality. Prop 209 effectively banned public employers from using affirmative action as it was seen as discriminatory.

Many voters may not even realize that affirmative action is basically illegal in California. The latest poll on Prop 16 is that 31 percent of Californians are in favor, 47 percent oppose and 22 percent are unsure.

State Says It Will Renovate the California Youth Authority in Norwalk for Non-COVID Patients

  • Plow Boys says:

HG is one of the direst cities in the County. No code enforcement, best if the Covid task-force permanently close down all of the bingo parlors. Bull doze most of the dwellings and start over. Fumes from the public dump 200 yrs ago still polluting city.

See Lexus repair left HG for Artesia.

Even the catholic church is going down down.

This article barely scratches the surface of corruption in our city. You have:

    – Sandra from Tacos San Pedro picking up blank absentee ballots from voters, telling them to sign them without filling them out. She is offering tacos for votes too. Her son, who has previous DUI convictions and was unemployed for years, is now a Public Safety Officer. Coincidence?

    – People from a few of the camps taking down opponents’ signs (which is against the law). Alleged pictures and video have surfaced, though the parties involved deny it.

    – Myra Maravilla taking money away from schools and veterans to fund her carnival. My granddaughter can’t go to get the therapy services anymore because the city cut their funding. She is the worst liar of them all, expect documents to surface proving as such. She sold out.

    – The entire city council receives a monthly salary, car allowance, technology reimbursement, and full healthcare benefits. Not to forget their city credit cards!!!

    – The city manager receives a ridiculous salary for a city less than a square mile big. He gets a car and a housing stipend too. He is the real crook here.

    – Victor Farfan running for the wrong seat, according to the clarification issued by the county which is contrary to what the inept city attorney opined.

The verbal attacks are getting worse between the camps but I will admit, there is some truth to what I have heard. After living here for more than 20 years, the gossip travels quickly.

It would be great to see a candidate debate with all those running. That way they can be put on the spot and on the record.

After tonight’s City Council meeting (September 30,2020) I do not know how Myra and Fred could even show their faces to the Hawaiian Gardens residents.

Not much was said about Alvarado but he was quick to defend Myra, raises alot of suspicions about his involvement with Myra.

One thing is very clear, Fred Licon will get expose and as Myra said it in tonight’s meeting, she “was mentored and trained by Fred”. Henceforth, the deep relationship between those two.

I am glad that all the hidden secrets and municipal manipulation has finally caught up to them because Hawaiian Gardens residents deserve better. Tacos San Pedro(connected to the cartel in Michoacan), harvesting mail-in ballots (by Fred Licon), and tearing down campaign signs (by paid Myra supporters) is just the tip of the iceberg. Residents know what goes but but live in fear.

I CHALLENGE the Hawaiian Gardens residents to speak up and sign a petition of how they were bullied and extorted by Fred. He is the mastermind of all the chaos that has ruined the City’s integrity.

    No More, BASTA!
